Distance following from previous projects W@ and Not Dark but Light began off as a very accidental band in the summer of 2005 between Andy N and Tony at Tony’s brothers house, Rick.

For reasons perhaps best left forgotten in time, Andy N and Tony were due to meet at Rick’s to do some music for their project as W@, only for Rick being unable to do it as he had fell down the stairs the night before and was unable to do it.

Three became two, heightened when it started really pouring it down when Andy arrived, and Tony had recently got a bass and was starting to make intense bass atomsphetic collage of sounds off it and over two different afternoons in 2005 Andy and Tony created two soundscapes, both times with Tony playing live sometimes for hours over the intense rain outside with Andy creating Brian Eno sounds inbetween running backwards and forwards with his mike looping the rain.

For its 2021 re-release, Andy N has revisted the original recordings (still available on HICC on archive.org -http://www.archive.org/details/Distance-Distance) and re-mastered them in his studio to give them a more cleaner and clearer sound.

This album is dedicated to Rick and his immortal words during this session ‘Can you shut the f&&king door before this house gets flooded’.
