II, the second album by Distance was a much more straightforward planned follow up from I by Andy N and Tony which by the start of 2006, Andy N had began investing in proper music mixing equipment and over the winter of 2006 had recorded several hours of sound of everything it rained frequently running outside his parents house with a mike in hand trying to caught the sound of rain. (It didn’t always work it had to be said and more often than not resulted in Andy getting drenched and nothing recorded of use),

Over that winter into 2006, Tony had carried on alone with his bass playing homing the sound into something really intense, using efforts pedals to turn everything he was recording into reverse and a electronic hum that must have caused all kinds of problems with the neighbours.

The two tracks that became the second part of the first album II as it was caused was mixed together in Andy’s studio and Tony’s bedroom and usually resulted in a ongoing battle with Rick (Tony’s brother)’s 8 track recorder which on several occasions completely packed up or in some cases didn’t record anything over the few months the pair worked on these recordings before over time, it became its own mix with Tony's Bass, Andy N's Eno like keys and the rain all forming a unholy alliance of sound.

For its 2021 re-release, Andy N has revisted the original recordings (still available on Halo Extrenico on archive.org - www.archive.org/details/hemp014
) and re-mastered them in his studio to give them a more cleaner and clearer sound.

This album is dedicated to Rick and his immortal words during this session ‘Can you shut the f&&king door before this house gets flooded’.
